Overview
Set-up molds in molding press using all process and material information available to achieve repeatable automatic injection molding cycle within the prescribed timeframes. Operate and maintain injection-molding presses to standard rate and check product being produced to specified Quality Inspection Plan to assure conformance to requirements. Must trouble shoot molding process as necessary to maintain quality and productivity requirements.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform mold changeovers this includes pulling and hanging molds, plumbing molds for correct water flow, inputting process parameters to guarantee product to Quality Inspection Plan and ensures product is being produced at a specified rate.
Performs verification of process parameters per the IPCS (Internal Process Control Sheet).
Answers alarms and troubleshoots auxiliary molding press equipment (this includes metal detectors, hoppers, loaders, blenders, vision systems and thermolators).
Set-up cameras and troubleshoot vision systems.
Visually inspects molded product and gages product per the Quality Inspection Plan and the mold book.
Packages completed product per the packing process sheet this includes weigh counting, filling totes/boxes and labeling product to ensure count accuracy when necessary.
Completes required paperwork to report production, scrap, press downtime, problems and issues related to the presses (die repair log), service requests for molds and molding presses and labor reporting.
General housekeeping of work area.
Follow company and department guidelines, procedures and policies.
Follows safety guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
HS diploma or GED required.
Associate's Degree in Plastics or similar subject is preferred.
Understanding of Plastics.
Understanding of Mold Tooling.
Ability to operate an injection molding machine.
Ability to use measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Basic computer skills.
Good communication skills
Ability to interpret product blueprints.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work in order to successfully accomplish job duties.
3 years prior experience in a molding manufacturing operation required.
