Role Purpose :
- Add value to Syngenta Crop Protection products by designing, developing and testing packages, package components & packaging systems that best meet the needs of internal/external customers and business goals. The Packaging Engineer interfaces closely with Product Development, Purchasing, Regulatory Affairs, Graphics, Logistics & Production teams. The selected candidate is expected to utilize state of the art technology and knowledge to maintain Syngenta's industry leading reputation in packaging.
- Primary Packaging support for up to 5 production locations
- Responsible for support new packaging development, research initiatives, cost savings and maintenance on existing range
Accountabilities::
- Coordinate and conduct all testing of packaging materials and packaging components ensuring they are fit for purpose. These tests include shelf-life compatibility, performance testing, UN certification, quality inspection and research related testing projects.
- Create test reports and documentation ensuring compliance with transportation regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills &
Experience:Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities:
-In-depth knowledge of packaging components, material compatibility and technologies related to development, testing and implementation of new product packaging and delivery systems.
- Experience with filling and packaging production equipment.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Engineering or similar education.
Critical experience :
- 2-5 years' industrial packaging experience, preferably in the agricultural chemical industry or home & garden industry
Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities :
- Effective communication skills to interface with various groups.
- Excellent project management skills, application of the respective project management tools.
Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges:
-Quickly attain good level of knowledge concerning the processes relevant to packaging technology and the systems used.
- Understanding the internal and external packaging capabilities in place and their impact on current / future packaging solutions.

- Travel requirements - minimal, 5%
