Role purpose :
- Work with a team of chemist and chemical engineers to provide process science support to the generation and improvement of manufacturing processes. The work includes a broad spectrum of activities from early stages of chemical route selection through process optimization, pilot trials and manufacturing support.
- The work will predominantly be lab-based
Accountabilities: :
- Provide physical organic support to improve technological and manufacturing capability, cost and HSE performance, under the direction of the +1 Manager.
- Plan and control laboratory work to gain targeted in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, investigate and develop solutions to the identified intractable chemical problems in order to achieve continued improvement of chemical processes.
- Identify and progress development initiatives, to implement technology and IP strategies, exploring alternative routes, technologies and options for low cost manufacture for products and intermediates.
- Monitor external IP developments in areas of responsibility and identify and progress appropriates responses.
- Communicate with commercial, research, manufacturing, development and HSE functions and participate in works and Supply Chain teams in order to define and progress development plans.
Knowledge, Skills &
Experience:
Critical knowledge: :
- PhD in Chemistry required.
Critical experience :
- Laboratory experience
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, reaction mechanism and kinetics
- Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design
- Familiarity with agronomy or bioassays a plus
Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities :
- Team-oriented, good communication and inter-personal skills
- Methods development aptitude and creativity

- Team working in multi-functional groups within T&P and the larger organization.
Additional Information:
- The appointment will be for 18 months (with potential for extension)
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the US.
- Travel Requirements - minimalEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
