- Provide in-depth technical expertise in operator and consumer safety and human risk assessment and input on a broader area of scientific issues within Product Safety.
- Identify and advise on operator and consumer risk assessment needs of products , design studies and monitoring programs, analyze and interpret data and provide technical positions to solve key scientific and techno-regulatory issues.
- Conduct standard risk assessments for regulatory review and develop non-standard higher-tier assessments for refining standard assessments.
- Act as a regional expert for designated a.i.s/products, and represent Operator and Consumer Safety in designated project teams ensuring that operator and consumer safety positions are consistent with regional and global strategies.
- Play a proactive role in the management of key technical issues and assist in the shaping of future technical strategy for Product Safety.
- Provide global support and interact with global Product Safety counterparts to align global strategy on selected a.i.s/products.
- Develop links with other parts of the Company, the industry and research institutions and remain abreast of current research to identify potential opportunities and issues.
Knowledge, Skills &
Experience:
Critical knowledge: :
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, toxicology, public health, industrial hygiene, agricultural or chemical engineering or related fields. Combinations of education and relevant work experience (e.g. Masters with 5
years of experience) will be also be considered.
- Candidates with experience in human risk assessment for crop protection products are preferred. Experience in using and developing mathematical models and PBPK is a plus.
Critical experience :
- The ideal candidate will have expertise and knowledge of the principles of risk assessment. Prior knowledge of North American (EPA or PMRA) regulatory risk assessment methodology, study guidelines, exposure science and modeling and regulatory process of crop protection products.

- A strong mindset for problem solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare compelling presentations are vital to this position.

Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges:
- Technical lead on local and global resources towards evaluation of operator and consumer safety and risk assessments necessary to ensure successful regional and global registrations
- Develop a working knowledge of the product safety aspects (toxicology, metabolism, dietary, non-dietary exposure and environmental fate) of selected active ingredients in the Syngenta portfolio to provide guidance to project teams, regulatory affairs, business units.
- Represent Syngenta to articulate and resolve issues with regulatory agencies to secure acceptance of technical positions.
- Represent Syngenta through participation in professional organizations and industry task forces.
- Technical lead for issues related to operator and consumer safety aspects that affect the Syngenta portfolio.
Additional Information:
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Travel Requirements: 10 - 15%, including international travel.
