Position Description
The Manager, FP&A; will be responsible for managing FP&A;'s baseline strategy to: a) serve as a valued strategic business partner by providing insightful, actionable, and current financial performance reporting and analysis that drives business understanding and decision making, b) develop thoughtful budgets and forecasts that effectively link business strategies to achievement of financial objectives, and c) to focus on forward looking analysis by anticipating how the environment will change, assessing financial impacts, and making sure the business is properly positioned.
Key deliverables include:
A) Actual Analysis - Providing timely, insightful, and accurate analysis of actual results, including drivers, trend analysis and variances to budget and forecast.
B) Forecasting - Developing timely, insightful and supported forecasts quarterly and as needed.
C) Management Reporting - Developing timely, accurate, and informative monthly, quarterly and ad hoc UG and AIG reports on financial results and key metrics.
D) Budget and Extended Forecast - Developing timely, well thought out (with Management support and buy-in) annual budget and informative associated presentations.
E) Hyperion Planning and Workforce Maintenance - Maintaining systems including software enhancements, troubleshooting, outline changes, user access, actual loads, data integrity, and backup copies.
In accomplishing the aforementioned deliverables, the FP&A; Manager will be responsible for strengthening and consistently maintaining a robust governance framework that incorporates appropriate controls, auditable processes, and backup capabilities minimizing potential for operational risk. This includes:
the strengthening of FP&A; processes and controls, including EUTs to ensure accuracy and compliance with UGC, AIG and Regulatory requirements,
enhancing baseline review and challenge processes,
developing EUT change control procedures, and
strengthening documentation of meetings and sign-offs.
The position coordinates with appropriate UGC departments (including Controllers, Capital Planning and Actuarial) and AIG departments (including Corporate FP&A;, AGE, AMG and EMR) on baseline assumptions, modeling, outputs and reporting.
The specific responsibilities encompassed within FP&A;'s baseline strategy will be shared with the SVP Domestic FP&A; in a manner that permits appropriate workload distribution, proper back-up and peer review, synergies with other areas of responsibilities, and to permit appropriate coverage. The position will work closely with the VP of CCAR to ensure alignment of baseline and stress processes and modeling.
Position Requirements
10 or more years of relevant experience within Finance including: control, planning, analytics, and SEC
Experience in Management Reporting (KPI and dashboard)
Strong academic credentials (Bachelor''s degree in Finance and/or Accounting required, Masters and/or CPA preferred)
Advanced proficiency in the use of Excel, Access Hyperian or SAP (or other Financial packages)
Insurance or mortgage experience preferable
Strong leadership and influencing skills to enable others to execute without having direct management responsibility over the individuals (able to work across organizational lines and create accountability)
Experience in transformation initiatives or implementing high exposure projects/processes
Well organized and capable of "big picture thinking" while managing details; able to explain complex concepts clearly
Ability to maintain composure under pressure and balance competing priorities
Highly analytical, forward thinking, with excellent problem solving skills
Clear and effective written and oral communications/presentations
Ability to multi-task and work independently without close supervision

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
