This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Consultant - Geologist for the Greensboro, NC location.
This candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in projects across our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization with exciting and impactful projects helping our clients meet their environmental compliance and/or site investigation and remediation goals.
Your ImpactSupport data collection efforts for extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
Perform field site investigation, subsurface boring and trenching oversight, and monitoring of groundwater and extraction well installations.
Participate with preparation of more complex data and visualizations such as soil analyses, hydrogeologic cross-sections, conceptual site models, and other illustrations.
Support preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, remedy, or clean-up chemical and environmental problems and contamination for internal review.
Analyze, evaluate, and interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for site characterization and remediation approaches.
Conduct environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).
Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You AreRequired Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
Master's degree a plus.
1 to 3 years of experience working as a Geologist.
Proficient with geological research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.
Proficiency with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products, and mitigation programs.
General knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Experience sampling soil and groundwater via drilling including direct-push, hollow-stem auger, and other similar drilling methods.
Experience in conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM guidelines and industry standards.
Experience with Solid Waste and UST investigations.
Experience with evaluation of vapor intrusion and sampling soil gas per EPA and NCDEQ guidelines.
Experience installing groundwater monitoring wells, remediation wells, and soil gas wells.
Experience writing groundwater monitoring reports and well installation reports.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.
Proactive, can-do attitude to support dynamic projects and diverse client base.
Effective at coordinating and assertively directing others in the field such as subcontracted drillers, excavation contractors, utility locators, and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Master's Degree is preferred.
Professional certification track.
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.
120) preferred.
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
