This position is accountable for providing ancillary support to daily Cath Lab, EP Lab, PV Lab, and Cath Lab Holding Room patient functions with an emphasis on active participation in direct patient care and case preparation in a sterile environment.
Job functions are inclusive of a variety of activities designed to streamline patient throughput, workflow of the department, process pre and post procedural studies and reports, and ensure Cath Lab supply and equipment readiness.

Responsibilities:
Maintain supply inventories such as:
linen, sterile instruments, I-stat cartridges, etc.
and other supply inventories in the Cath lab, PV Lab, EP Lab, or Cath Lab Holding area.
- Maintains and cleans CV/EP procedure supplies for instrument sterilization.
Process and package pacemaker instruments, reusable EP catheters, cables or other reprocessable instruments.
Delivers items to be reprocessed and sterilized to central processing on a daily basis to ensure equipment is available for daily use.
- Maintains visibility and accessibility to the department to:
facilitate flow and through put.
Functions in a team environment as an important part of the team by supporting work of invasive labs and holding area.
- Participate in Cath Lab room turnover:
assist with removal of soiled linen, garbage removal, and other necessary functions to promote room turnover.
- Perform Room turnover for device rooms (Pacemaker Rooms) by:
maintaining and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), following industry standards for proper cleaning of procedure rooms.
- Performs safe handling of patients in wheelchairs and stretchers:
Independently transports patients from all nursing departments in a timely manner to the Cath Lab and back to their respective rooms after the procedure.
Assist with the transfer of patients out of their beds, wheelchairs or stretchers using proper body mechanics.
Report any problems encountered during patient pick up/drop off or transport to charge position on nursing unit or Cath Lab.
- Provides departmental support by participating in extended duties related to Cath Lab daily operations.
These duties are vital to accomplishing departmental goals and enhancing the efficiency of the department.
- Reports patient status changes, patient or family concerns or unsafe conditions to staff and leadership.
- Retrieves beds and stretchers for the department.
- Uses effective communication skills when communicating with patient, family, visitor, nursing staff, or other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Uses appropriate patient identifiers when picking up a patient for a procedure.
Appropriately displays Cone Health ID to provide patient or family visual assurance and in accordance with Cone Health policy.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Required Preferred:
NA I Designation with successful completion of North Carolina mandated National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP).
Licensure must be maintained according to DHHS/NCBON and the NNAAP standards on a continuous basis without lapse.

Experience in a hospital or other healthcare setting LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED Required:
For a transporter, no licensure required.
For a NT1/MA1, must be in good standing with the NC DHHS/NCBON and NNAAP Registry with an unrestricted licensure.
Must have BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Preferred:
NA1 (Nurse Assistant I) certification with the North Carolina DHHS that is unrestricted.
PREFERRED NA I (Nurse Assistant I) certification with the North Carolina DHHS that is unrestricted.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
