Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree is required - preferably in Environmental Science/Engineering and/or Occupational Health & Safety or related science degree.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
The EHS Specialist will report directly to the EHS East Region Manager.
Responsibilities include:
Multisite EHS responsibilityDeveloping, managing, and seeking to continually improve all required EHS programs to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations, including but not limited to EPA, OSHA, and North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) as well as all required company programs, processes, instructions, and best practicesMaintaining site environmental permits and sampling complying with all reporting and permit application requirementsAssisting with compliance to OHSA programs such as:
Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs)Compressed Gas Cylinders and CryogenicsRespiratory and Hearing ConservationOversight and Coordination of Medical MonitoringRoutine ergonomic evaluationsRisk assessments to evaluate hazardous conditions and practices to develop control solutions utilizing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)Radiation ProgramsLockout / Tagout (LOTO) programs including annual program reviewsManaging hazardous waste programsPerforming routine inspections of entire facility insuring continual audit-ready compliance with EHS policies and proceduresProviding new ideas and methods to improve safety and environmental processesEngaging and collaborating with stakeholders to develop a culture of continuously improving performanceLearn and eventually auditing of all aspects of an ISO 14001/45001 Management SystemsAbility to lead site safety committee meetingKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science / Engineering and/or Occupational Health & Safety or related science degreeAbility to read and interpret documents such as rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, internal procedures, and instructionsHighly effective interpersonal communication skills required.
Highly effective written skills, including the ability to create and update documentation including audit reports, procedures, presentations, and training materialsAbility to meet deadlines, multi-task effectively, and deal professionally with all levels of internal customers and co-workers while promoting a climate of positive relationshipsStrong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently as well as within a team environmentWorking experience in the environmental, health and safety field is preferredOur ideal candidate is an innovative but decisive individual who can work effectively and flexibly in a highly collaborative, team-based manufacturing environment; can set and meet goals and expectations; is approachable, empathetic, and outgoing; can quickly gain trust and respect; and is able to establish and maintain relationships.
