NC09 / $37,577.
00 - $65,760.
00This is an Engineering Technician II position in the McLeansville Construction Office.
This position supports higher level technicians and engineers in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, material sampling and testing, and construction traffic control.
Position requires the performance of standardized and non -standardized test and the assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing editing and processing field data.
Employee may supervise lower-level technicians and CEI personnel and help in coordination of work assignments.
Work functions may include highway construction surveying and layout.
Employee must be proficient in record keeping.
Employee must be able to obtain and maintain certifications required to perform material sampling and testing.
Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours as necessary.
Daily duties will include keeping diaries on project operations, completing various material reports, documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry.

Experience with contract administrationKnowledge in understanding contracts, plans, standards, and specifications.
Experience in performing inspection, sampling, and testing of materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specificationsWorking knowledge of computer equipment, (iPad, desktop,), software (HiCams and Share Point) and mathematical functionsExperience in maintaining neat legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entryAdditional Expectations:
Ability to establish and maintain positive lines of communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the general public.
Work involves independent decision making and use of judgement.
Must be able to document and take some corrective actions, and apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
Ability to complete daily diaries, survey notes and other record keeping items manually and electronically.
Be able to perform construction related mathematical calculations.
Applicant will be required to acquire various certifications, including QMS Asphalt, Concrete Testing, Borrow Pit Sampling and MSHA Certifications.
Employee must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds, work in high traffic areas, and work at heights over water or traffic, extreme temperatures, able to traverse uneven terrain, work at night and weekends if necessary.
Safety toe shoes are required.
Management prefers applicants with a valid NC driver's license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associates degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
