Legal Administrative Specialist

This position serves as a Legal Administrative Specialist responsible for performing technical and analytical work to support the criminal litigation needs of the United States Attorney's Office and provides litigation support services and a variety of legal support services for criminal prosecutions and grand jury investigations. Duties include:
Provide technical assistance to litigation teams on legal automation systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and trial presentation. Assist and/or trains attorneys and legal support staffing organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing and controlling of documents into a database. Develop alternative methods and encourages use of automated support for trial preparing and presentation. Prepare computerized trial presentation programs and placement in courtroom. Make effective and creative use of various software and hardware. Suggests and develops the most effective trial presentation. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. GS-07:
To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
Specialized Experience, OR Superior Academic Achievement, Education OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in federal service performing routine litigation support assignments such as assisting with organizing case information; assisting attorneys in preparing for court such as preparing exhibits; examining, preparing, and processing a variety of technical legal documents which are characteristically voluminous and complex in format. OR Education:
One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Superior Academic Achievement:
Superior Academic Achievement is based on:
(1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B+ or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
