Arch is seeking a Vice President, Payroll Operations who is responsible for direct oversight of payroll shared services for Arch's U.
S.
and Canada based employers.
This position will liaise with and coordinate payroll activities with separately managed payroll functions located in Bermuda, UK, Ireland, Switzerland and Australia, as well as with Arch's HR leadership team, business segment CFOs and Controllers, Treasury team, third-party service providers and internal and external auditors.
The VP must have a strong background in financial accounting (i.
e.
, general ledger reporting, data management and system operations), share-based payroll compensation, fringe and expatriate benefits and knowledge of payroll tax reporting in multiple tax jurisdictions.
The candidate must have proven leadership skills and be able to deliver service excellence and continuous improvement for Arch's payroll shared service customers.
The candidate will be responsible for standardizing payroll and share-based payroll processes and reporting across multiple payroll groups.
The VP, Payroll Operations will report to the VP & Controller.
Job
Responsibilities:
Strategically supervise, motivate and lead the payroll shared team ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll for 3,000
employees.
Manage the workflow of payroll operations to ensure optimal efficiency and maintain high standards of customer service for Arch's U.
S.
and Canada-based employers and employees.
Ensure flow of data from Workday payroll system is accurately and effectively reported and reconciled to third parties.
Drive uniform Workday payroll and share-based payroll reporting across all payroll groups.
Enhance the accounting and reporting of global payroll data into the new ERP.
Work towards implementing effective reconciliations globally of financial ledger balances sourced by payroll.
Liaise with HR, Compensation and Benefit teams and CFOs and Controllers regarding payroll related accounting and reporting.
Drive efficiency, timeliness and accuracy in the payroll accounting process by strong integration with internal and external resources through the use of technology.
Prepare and maintain goals and career development plans for all direct reports.
Stay current and advise on payroll related reporting and compliance/regulatory changes that may impact the payroll reporting process.
Manage internal and external payroll audits and SOX processes.
Required Skills/
Experience:
Strong experience working with Workday, ADP payroll management software.
Strong knowledge of payroll reporting for long-term incentive plan instruments and understanding of compensation programs including expatriate programs and employee benefits.

years payroll accounting experience in a similar role managing payroll in a multi-entity environment.
Experience in leading and managing people/teams and ability to partner with global business unit leaders for building alignment and for driving change.
Extensive knowledge of payroll function management including preparation, reconciling, internal controls, payroll taxes and year end reporting.
Strong knowledge of payroll reporting for long-term incentive plan instruments and understanding of compensation programs including expatriate programs and employee benefits.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite:
Excel, PowerPoint, ability to model and create complex spreadsheets, look up tables, pivot tables, and understand/analyze the results.
Adept with the various payroll regulatory environments.
Cross functional collaborator and communicator.
