Material and Inventory Control Planner

Responsible for planning and implementing material activities to include material purchasing, forecasting and inventory control. Maintain MRP to ensure materials are ordered and in stock to meet production requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Responsible for set-up and use of MRP system parameters.
2. Ensure system generated material requirements correctly indicate make/buy decisions to Planning and/or Procurement using the Master Production Schedule.
3. Responsible for evaluating and recommending excess and obsolete inventory values based on specific parameters such as historical sales data, future sales forecasts, etc.
4. Develop detailed material forecasts to critical suppliers by part along with the Master Scheduler.
5. Reconcile Material Requirement Planning Report (MRP) information with forecast requirements and existing inventory, based on financial risk analysis.
6. Ensure that the MRP is aligned with the customer demand and program/project schedule. Make decision on what action to take based on issues identified to adjust MRP, utilizing report analysis from MRP.
7. Pull-in and push-out deliveries according to MRP goals and communicate the delivery schedule to Purchasing in a timely manner.
8. Maintain the MRP including purchase order creation, prioritization, modification and cancellation.
9. Coordinate with Shipping and Receiving regarding receiving and inspection of material.
10. Coordinate with QA regarding any containment and release of discrepant material.
11. Coordinate with Purchasing regarding any return and replacement of material.
12. Coordinate with Production Planning regarding availability of material and/or communicate supply support plans for materials with critical demand.
13. Generate monthly forecast reports, utilizing information from Sales and Marketing and MRP data.
14. Make recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends.
15. Update inventory targets (including safety stock levels) that are approved by management.
16. Coordinate any excessive use of material and assist in the preparation of the report of material scrapping.
17. Foster increased productivity and advancement opportunities by personal commitment to professional development and by practicing continuous improvement of processes.
MINIMUM:
1. Two year college degree in Business or Applied Engineering or similar degree; or equivalent planning related work experience.
2. Two years previous planning experience with an MRP system in a fabrication and assembly environment with meaningful scale.
3. Proficient in MS Office software applications.
4. Ability to interpret engineering data where applicable and a demonstrated ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
5. Must be able to read, write and understand English.
6. Good written and oral communication skills and the traits of an effective team member.
7. Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and accurately perform duties.
8. Must have independent problem solving skills and the discipline to persevere until problems are solved.
9. Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences.
10. Willingness to continue personal growth and development (e.g. certification through APICS or ISM).
